TAPE INS HAIR EXTENSIONS

How to remove tape in hair extensions?

By simply adding more oil and allow the oil to seep between the bonds of glue this will help to loosen the glue from the tape install. Oil will cause the adhesive to break down and help to keep your hair intact during the uninstall process. Take special care and have someone to assist you with ungluing the wefts, if you can. If you do not have anyone to help, use the two-mirror method (one mirror in the front and one in the back to properly see what you are doing)

How long do tape in hair extensions last?

If you are taking care of your extensions: such as washing them, but not more than twice a week, sleeping on a satin pillow case, banding your extensions up at night, using sulfate free shampoos, good quality conditioners and good quality leave in conditioners: those that can only be found at a salon supply store and not at your local drugstore, then, 6 to 8 weeks (six to eight) to take out and reinstall but the extensions should last you a year or so depending on how often you wear the extensions.

I recommend using an extension case or zip up bag to help to keep your extensions organized like you do for clothing or shoes.

How to put in tape in hair extensions?

  • Wash your hair with sulfate free shampoo, deep condition and use a light leave in.
  • Blow dry your hair straight (if using straight hair extensions or scrunch your hair up if you are using wavy or curly extensions.
  • Comb out and clip or get the hair away that you will use for your leave out. Usually it is around the frame of the perimeter and around the middle part or side part.
  • It is a good idea to have another set of eyes to help you with placement. You want to lay the hair extensions as flat as possible to the middle frame of your hair. Usually the hair around the perimeter and a portion of the top middle are left clipped out of the way during the install.

Don’t forget to add the extensions with the density you had in mind (120%-200% are common densities). Density is the thickness of hair per square inch.

Blending Techniques:

IMPORTANT: LEAVE ENOUGH “LEAVE OUT HAIR” SO THAT YOU CAN HAVE PROPER

COVERAGE, BUT NOT SO MUCH LEAVE OUT THAT YOU ARE DEFEATING THE PURPOSE

OF THE INSTALLING OF EXTENSIONS.

  • Go through the the hair a cermic flat iron(if you are using straight hair extensions) and a flat iron comb. The flat iron comb will allow you to comb through and sepearte your hair with the extensions so that you can keep an eye on knowing where your hair starts and ends in comparison to the extensions. Use very small sections so that you can see the difference between your hair and the extensions and for proper straightening. The hair(both your hair and extension hair) will need to be pin straight flat ironed. Don’t forget heat protectant.
  • If the hair is curly or wavy, hopefully you have chosen the correct texture or a curl or wave pattern that matches your own natural hair. Scrunch your hair to make your curl or wave. After the install, hold the hair out at about a 45 degree angle, and use the same technique used

for straight hair to point cut the extenstions to the shortest layer of your own natural hair. Remember curly or wavy hair is a little easier to blend.

  • Point cut the hair to the shortest layer of your natural hair hold hair out at least a 45 degree angle. Be careful to keep an eye on your hair so that you do not cut your own hair. Be also careful to not cut too much of your extensions off but keeping in mind all OR most extensions have to be blended
  • What is point cutting? If you want to add texture to the ends of your hair, point cutting is the technique you need. This technique cuts the hair with a vertical, rather than horizontal, motion. Point cutting removes bulk from the ends of the hair, blending layers together and creating movement

Be aware of placement. You don't want to put your extensions too close to the edge of your scalp (by your face and stuff), lest they be seen. Also avoid putting them too high up towards your part!

Sticky to sticky. You're going to be sandwiching a layer of your hair between two extensions. Make sure the sticky bits from the top and bottom extension are touching each other, for maximum adherence.

Do tape in extensions damage your hair?

Tape- In Extensions will only damage your hair if you do not take special care when taking them out. Simply by adding oil and more oil and then allowing the oil to seep between the bonds will cause the bond to loosen up. This will cause the adhesive to break down and help to keep your hair intact during the uninstall process.

How to care for tape in hair extensions?

Take special care to not over wash your hair. Over washing is washing your hair daily. Unless you have extremely oily hair or some type of medical condition that requires washing daily, and depending on personal

preference, I recommend washing no more than twice a week. Once a week is great but twice a week is okay too.

Every time you wash, you must wash and dry in the same method:

Sulfate free shampoo, deep conditioner, light leave in conditioner.

***** Try to remember only salon store grade sulfate free shampoo and good quality conditioner******

Do not vigorously scrub just lightly rub the hair, blow dry or scrunch (depending on the type of extensions you have).

The hair needs to be very carefully blow dried and by VERY small sections either flat iron or scrunch with product to help the hair wave up (Styling gel for wavy or curly hair extensions and for your hair that you are blending in too)

All extensions need blending so make sure that you look for lines of separation and you use the point cutting method at a 45-degree angle to cut the extensions for blending.

How to dry tape in hair extensions?

Dry the tape in extensions comfortably but it is advised to not dry the base of the hair weft directly especially if using higher heat. Hold the hair to not pull the extensions out.

Can you dye tape in hair extensions?

Yes, hair extensions can be dyed. Remember, Amazing Beauty Hair extensions are of quality that is good grade, however, the process of making the hair extension is quite difficult on nonliving hair. The extension hair has been treated and processed heavily to become an extension. Since the hair is not live, the hair cuticle does not open to receive color like it does on live hair, therefore, the hair may not always receive the color. It is recommended to seek a stylist if you are going to be dying the wefts unless you have been properly trained as a colorist or you have a great amount of experience dying nonliving hair.

If possible, try to order the hair from Amazing Hair Beauty, after you have dyed your hair to the color you want and then match the wefts to the color that you wish to have.

How many tape in hair extensions for a full head?

Purchase the correct density that you are hoping to achieve from Amazing Hair Beauty by choosing the correct density for the look you are hoping to achieve!

What is hair density- density is the number of hair follicles per square inch of hair.

Here are a few examples: hair extensions come in about 120% density (this would be for a client that has thin hair but wants a thicker look) which is not quite so thick all through 150%, 180% and 200% density (very similar to an afro like look) is a thick density of extensions. Wefts can be doubled on one row or laid carefully on the top of each other in order to give a fuller look.

How to style tape in hair extensions?

Style as you would with your usual hair. Our extensions are of good quality; therefore, you can wash, style and care for the hair as if it is yours, but use just a little bit extra care than you do for your own hair.

Can you wash tape in hair extensions?

Yes, you should refrain from washing your hair daily but once a week or at best, twice a week would be ok. Try not to vigorously scrub the base of your scalp.

Yes, every week (Once or twice a week)

Every time you wash, you must wash and dry in the same method:

Sulfate free shampoo, deep conditioner, light leave in conditioner, dry straight OR scrunch if curly or wavy, flat iron in small sections OR gel or curl enhancer cream to make the hair more noticeably curly or wavy.

Can I put my hair up with tape in hair extensions?

If you have left leave out OR what we call cover up hair, you will be fine to pin your hair up. Use a mirror after you clip the hair up to make sure that there isn’t any tracks or wefts showing.

See these helpful tips for blending:

What is leave out- leave out is the hair usually around the perimeter and either the middle or side parted area that will be left out to go over the extensions. This is your natural hair. Usually it is around the frame of the perimeter and around the middle part or side part.

How to maintain tape in hair extensions?

  • Sleep on a satin pillow case. I know that most ladies do not like to sleep with a satin bonnet but I highly recommend both the satin pillow case and the satin bonnet.
  • Band the hair up at night with an elastic tie that will not pull your hair out.
  • Try not to over wash your hair. Once a week is okay and twice a week is okay too.
  • Good quality shampoo, conditioner and leave in (salon store quality)
  • Use a light shear shine in a mist form
  • Take the extensions out every 6 to 8 weeks and reinstall if you choose to use again.
  • Deep condition your own hair:

o What is deep conditioning- Deep conditioning penetrates the hair shaft and helps to restore the natural shine to the hair. ...Deep conditioning your hair helps to smooth the shaft of your hair and allows you to gain back the natural shine in your hair. Deep conditioners are left on the hair for 20 to 30 minutes and usually you sit under a hood dryer with a cap to allow the hair cuticle to be properly penetrated.

  • Use sulfate free shampoo to wash the extensions and your hair about once a week or twice a week too, depending on your preference. Howver, it is not recommended to wash your hair every day.
  • Use a good quality conditioner let sit on the hair for at least 20 minutes, spray with a light leave in conditioner and a small amout of very light glosser or hair polish.
  • Air dry the extensions on a towel. I like to clip extensions to my towel bar in my bathroom with a clothes pins and blow dry straight or crunch for curly with a diffuser before re-applying
  • Once applied extensions like they should be positioned; like you have cut/blended the extensions
  • The hair extensions will need to more tape applied to base of the weft, if necessary to help them to stick again for reuse. The extensions will need to be washed and carefully dried with salon store quality shampoo and conditioner

CLIP IN HAIR EXTENSIONS

How long do clip in hair extensions last?

With proper care and depending on how often they are worn, styled with heat and washed, our human hair extensions should last you up to a year. Remember that heat can damage human hair used in the extensions just like it can damage our own hair.

I recommend the rubber band method for clip ins if you would like more security of the wefts staying in place.

The Rubber Band Method is where you place a small rubber band where each one of the combs are to be placed. This method will allow the combs to secure to the rubber band which will add another level of security of the weft. Be careful not to pull your hair out when taking the tiny rubber bands out.

Take the clip-ins out once a week and if you want to wear them again, reapply.

Why every week? Unlike tape- in or other methods, the extensions are a little less intact. If you stick to the

method of washing your hair once a week or no more than twice a week, you will need to take the extensions out every time you wash with wet shampoo but if you do not have time to take out and reinstall weekly, then just use dry shampoo

How long does it take to clip in (install) hair extensions?

Depending on the amount of density you are trying to achieve, how thick or thin your hair is, how many wefts you are installing etc., the entire process should take about 90-120 minutes.

Can I color, tone, or bleach my hair extensions?

Yes, hair extensions can be dyed, bleached or toned. I would use: bleach, toner and color with caution.

Remember, our hair quality is of good grade but to make the hair extension, the hair has been treated and processed heavily to become an extension. Since the hair is not live, the hair cuticle does not open to receive color like it does on live hair, therefore, the hair may not always receive the color. It is recommended to seek a color stylist if you are going to be dying the wefts unless you have been properly trained as a colorist or have much experience with coloring non-living hair. If possible, try to order the hair from Amazing Hair Beauty, after you have dyed your hair to the color you want and then match the wefts to the color that you wish to have.

Can I use heat styling tools on my hair extensions?

Start off with a lower temperature to assess how the hair tolerates heat and then adjust as needed. Be careful because often extension hair, since the hair is not live, the hair extensions may only respond to higher heat. It is like a catch 20/20, use heat in stair steps.

How to choose the right color of hair extensions?

Choose what color extensions you plan to buy. Amazing Hair Beauty does happen to carry a broad array of extensions in variety of colors, including Ombre,
highlighted, balayage and more. Once you chosen the color, I suggest waiting for your hair to arrive and then take the hair with you to the salon supply store in case you may have to darken or lighten your hair to choose the closest color (only if needed). Usually the consultants at the salon supply store have some sort of
background or eye for assisting with you with matching color, if need.

How do I wash my extensions, and how often should I wash them?

Take the clip-ins out once a week and if you want to wear them again, reapply. Why every week? Unlike tape-in or other methods, the extensions are a little less intact. If you stick to the method of washing your hair once a week or no more than twice a week, you will need to take the extensions out every time you wash with wet shampoo but if you do not have time to take out and reinstall weekly, then just use dry shampoo

Can you make these extensions into ponytail extensions without the clips showing?

If you have left leave out OR what we call cover up hair, you will be fine to pin your hair up as the clips are all the way at the base of the weft, therefore, the clip should not show if you have done due diligence of leaving enough “Leave Out”.

What products do you suggest on the extensions?

What kind of shampoo and/or conditioner can I use? Sulfate free shampoo, deep conditioner, light leave in conditioner and a light oil mist. I tend to use the oils that are in the misting bottle and is very light, but effective, with providing shine.

Can I swim with hair extensions?

You can keep the extensions in while you swim if the extensions are secure with the rubber band method.
